Justin Willoughby speaking to an audience at Open Arms Community Church about his 570 pound weight loss journey
One local man’s story is continuing to gain national exposure, as he
leaps into what he’s always dreamed of– inspiring people to get
healthy. Justin Willoughby’s story is featured in this month’s
Guideposts Magazine.
Willoughby’s natural 570-plus weight loss is rare, and it’s something
that he feels he must share with people, to improve their quality of
life. Willoughby says on his blog at JustinWIlloughby.com, “It doesn’t
have to be a weight issue, it can also be other issues that drag us
down in life.”
The Guideposts article chronicles Willoughby’s attempts to reconnect
with society again after he had lost is first 200 pounds. It talks
about the support and love that he found when he started attending
Open Arms Community Church in Bradford, and some of the struggles he
faced in life during his weight loss journey.
Willoughby is excited about the exposure the Guidepost article is
creating, as he launches his national motivational speaking career.
He’s already spoken at churches, hospitals, and weight loss clubs
regionally, and is eager to share his message– that change starts
with “One Step.” Willoughby tells his audiences that at 799 pounds,
exercise was out of the question. Willougby couldn’t run a marathon,
but he could take one step. The next day he took two, and after one
year, he had lost his first 200 pounds.
A DVD of Justin’s story is in production, and will be available soon
on his website. He’s also in talks with a magazine in the United
Kingdom that will feature his story in an article overseas. His story
has been featured in Teen People Magazine, Inside Edition, The
National Enquirer, The Associated Press, and Woman Magazine in London.
