The launch of a new year signals a renewed effort by the county’s health insurance provider, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, to assist those employees who would like to lose weight. Highmark has available free services that include a specially trained health coach available through a toll-free telephone number, an online wellness program that’s interactive and easy to use, and a wide variety of literature. Meanwhile, the Potter County Commissioners have arranged for an employee discount program at two local facilities, the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Wellness Center and Chad’s Solid Body Gym.
Highmark has released a new tip sheet that is helpful for those who would like to lose some weight in a sensible and healthy manner. The summary describes the impact of excess weight on a person’s health and personal finances. There’s also a body mass index table and a listing of resources that can help an individual get started on a reasonable weight loss program.
