PennDOT Driver License Centers to Offer Limited Services on March 26

Harrisburg – Some driver’s license services will not be available at PennDOT driver license centers on Saturday, March 26 due to a scheduled upgrade of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Problem Driver Pointer System, or PDPS.

The federal government requires states to use the system to determine if applicants have outstanding driver sanctions in other states. All outstanding sanctions must be reconciled before individuals can obtain a driver’s license or learner’s permit in another state.

“We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this required upgrade may cause our customers,” said acting PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch, P.E.

Due to the PDPS upgrade, the following services will not be available at the centers on March 26:

• Initial issuance of learner’s permits and driver’s licenses
• Extensions/replacements of learner’s permits
• Driver’s license replacements (duplicates)
• Commercial driver’s license renewals
• Out-of-state driver’s license transfers

The following services will be available as usual on Saturday, March 26:

• Initial issuance and replacement of photo identification cards

• Non-commercial driver’s license renewals (Note: The renewal can be completed provided the customer has not received a notice from PennDOT stating they have an outstanding out-of-state driver sanction.)

• Knowledge (learner’s permit) testing (Note: While knowledge testing will still be conducted at the centers, due to the system enhancement, a learner’s permit cannot be issued upon successful completion of the test on March 26.)

• On-the-road skills testing (Note: While on-the-road skills testing will still be conducted at the centers, a driver’s license cannot be issued upon successful completion of the test on March 26.)

Customers who pass the knowledge or on-the-road skills tests will need to return to the driver license center on or after the next business day to obtain their product.

Visit the Locations Information Center on PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.state.pa.us, for driver license center hours of operation.

Certain driver’s license services are also available on PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, including non-commercial driver’s license renewals (provided the customer has not received a notice from PennDOT stating they have an outstanding out-of-state driver sanction); photo ID card renewals; driver-history services; driver’s license change of address; and exam scheduling.

In addition, vehicle registration renewals and changes of address may also be completed online. Driver and vehicle online services are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week; there are no additional fees for using PennDOT’s online services.

PennDOT posting additional roads in Bradford County

PennDOT is advising motorists in Bradford County that another two roads will soon be posted with permanent, year-round, 10-ton weight restrictions.

The following state highways will get the weight restrictions along their entire lengths:

State Route 4030 (Doty Hill Road) in South Creek and Ridgebury townships, from Route 14 to the New York state line;

State Route 4041 (Bird Creek Road) in Wells Township, from Roaring Run Road to the New York state line.

The postings are being made on the basis of traffic and engineering studies indicating that these highways may be damaged by the use of vehicles that exceed the restriction.

School buses and local-delivery trucks are exempted from the postings.

The postings will take effect as soon as the required signing is erected. A PennDOT maintenance crew will begin placing the road posting signs on March 31.

The incident remains under investigation by the Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations, Warren-based state police, the Warren County District Attorney and the Warren County Coroner.

The search was led by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Assisting were the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Warren County Emergency Management Agency, volunteer firefighters from Clarendon, Cherry Grove, Glade and Pleasant volunteer fire departments and the airboat unit from the Celeron, N.Y., Volunteer Fire Department.

Repair Work will close Trout Run Bridge next week
Detour will be in place

Clearfield – Repair work will close the Trout Run Bridge on Route 4001
(Kettle Creek Road) next week in Leidy Township, Clinton County. The Trout Run
Bridge is located about a half mile south of the village of Hammersley Fork.
Repair work will begin on Monday, March 21 at 7am.

in place. The detour will make use of Route 120, Route 144 and Route 4001.

the work zone closure will be lifted each night. All work is weather dependent.

PennDOT expects to re-open the bridge by 5pm, Friday, March 25.

Crews from PennDOT Clinton County maintenance will be making structural
steel repairs to the bridge. The bridge is currently posted for a 12-ton weight

Potter County Looking For Jail Cook
Gerri Miller.com

During The March 10 meeting, the Potter County Commissioners voted unanimously to return to the concept of having a jail cook.

The jail lost its cook last fall, no explanation was ever provided, and the county quickly contracted with Joe Bohn Catering to provide lunches and dinners on an emergency basis.

A few weeks ago, the commissioners requested bids for providing jail meals and received two bids, one from Bohn and the other from the Baker Boyz.

But, as chairman Doug Morley explained after reviewing the bids and talking with others including Sheriff Ken Sauley they decided to return to the old system.

The county is currently looking for a cook through the usual hiring process and the commissioners said the hiring will be a first step and they will look to ways of providing meals when the cook is off due to illness or vacation, but filling the position will come first.
